Nineteen developments will change Millsboro area forever
Housing and commercial development is taking place at a rapid pace in the Millsboro area. |

Centrally located on the Delmarva Peninsula is the small town of Millsboro. That is small for now, anyway. There are currently 19 new developments slated for the area and that is going to change face of the entire region. According to Linda Johnson, the new development coordinator for the town (a position that was recently created due to the rapid growth in the area), there are 19 new developments slated for the Millsboro area that total more than 5,100 new homes. "We're excited about this development and what it will bring to the area," she said. The largest development, Plantation Lakes, is nearing completion of site work and will begin construction by the first of October. Plantation Lakes will add 2,400 homes to the geography of the region. "This development will include recreational facilities, walking trails, a clubhouse and many more amenities that will ultimately benefit the entire community," commented Johnson. Johnson expects that the clubhouse will be host to larger groups that the Civic Center currently cannot hold. The Millsboro area is not only a great place to live, but also an ideal place for business. Located centrally on the Delmarva Peninsula, it is also ideally located in the Mid-Atlantic region. With the Sussex County Airport located just a few short miles away, private aircraft can utilize the park to attend meetings scheduled in one of the many meeting facilities located in and around Millsboro. The downtown area hosts four very diverse meeting facilities that are within walking distance to restaurants and shopping. These facilities can be combined to accommodate larger groups as well. The Civic Center hosts many events including the annual bridal show and the Business Expo (which will be taking place in October). It is the perfect venue for business meetings and conferences as well as live performances. Amenities include a built-in stage, conference rooms for small or mid-sized groups, full catering kitchen with commercial stove, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher and ice and coffee machines. The future will bring many changes for Sussex County. With the central location of Millsboro, there will surely be many changes for the people and businesses of the area that will affect the way we work, live and do business.
